What’s life at Allenbrook like?
Transitioning into a care home can be a frightening experience. After all, it’s an entirely new environment, filled with unfamiliar faces, changed routines, and a different way of living.
Thankfully, we understand the stress and confusion that can come with moving - that’s why we strive to create a warm, welcoming environment that truly feels like home. We aim to foster a close-knit community among our residents while providing the personalised care and assistance they need to maintain their independence.
Below, we've listed some of the ways we make life rewarding for our residents, from the rooms they’ll be staying in, to the activities they can choose to join.
Personalised accommodation
It takes a while to get used to a new room, especially if you’ve resided in your last one for a long time. To make the transition easier, we encourage new residents to give their room a personal touch by bringing belongings from home. Our residents have the chance to really make their room their own, whether they’d like to hang some family photos, decorate it with their chosen artwork, or even bring a favourite armchair.
We have a wide range of room types and sizes available, many with en-suite facilities and views over the grounds. Some of our rooms even have period features and original fireplaces.
Fun activities and days out
We believe that nurturing the mind, body, and soul is key to achieving a fulfilling and happy life. By providing a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, we encourage them to make friends, learn new skills, and keep active.
Our in-house activities team organises daily group sessions and events. These include:
- Armchair exercises
- Quizzes
- Arts and crafts
- Cinema nights
- Music sessions
- Sing-alongs
- Gardening
Residents can pick and choose whichever activities fit their interests - some are tailored towards improving strength, flexibility, and balance, while others are about having fun and getting out and about. Aside from our daily activities, we also have a talented line up of professional entertainers who visit regularly.
Residents can stay connected with their loved ones through our complimentary Wi-Fi, which enables them check their emails, catch up with friends on social media, or have a virtual face-to-face chat via Skype.
