Although happy for people to visit unannounced, making an appointment allows us to spend more time with you, answer your questions in more detail and help you make an informed choice about whether Allenbrook is the right place for you.
Primarily, Allenbrook is a Nursing Home for older people. Providing care and support for people over the age of 65 who have problems with physical health. However, many older people have multiple problems that contribute to their situation including poor mobility, memory impairment and social isolation. We recognise that there may be many reasons why you would want to consider choosing Allenbrook as your home.
Yes, respite care is something that we offer very successfully, supporting people who wish to remain in their own home. We are happy to consider regular bookings to give a family member or carer a break from caring responsibilities or simply a one-off booking to help with a breakdown in care or to allow for a holiday.
We recognise that food is a big part of what keeps us happy and healthy, so we provide an enjoyable, varied and nutritious menu. Every day starts with a choice of cooked or continental breakfast delivered to your room at a time of your choosing. A variety of hot lunches are also available. In the evening, we offer lighter choices for supper and special diets and preferences are catered for. We are also happy to provide meals for your visitors for a small cost.
Our activities are as varied as our residents! With our activities team providing a range of day to day activities including quizzes, crafts, board games and reminiscence groups. We also have outings to local places of interest as well as visiting entertainment which varies from professional musicians to the local school choir. Local churches also visit to provide Holy Communion and a regular Sunday Service.
Yes, we encourage you to make your room your own - after all, your bedroom door is your front door!
No, not necessarily. We aim to provide a home for life, so that residents and families can work with staff that know them well to meet their end of life wishes when that time comes.
