Long Term Care
Long-term care is at the heart of what we do. The majority of our residents in Fordingbridge make Allenbrook their permanent home. We encourage our residents to feel at home, make new friends and become involved in the day-to-day activities that provide social opportunities and stimulation.
By building a caring relationship over a period of time and getting to know a little of each person’s history and family background, we can understand what really makes a difference to their quality of life and provide care that is personal to their needs. Our superb care is backed up at all times by the supervision of experienced Registered Nurses and access to an excellent GP practice that provides cover to
all our residents.
Respite and Day Care for individuals living in their own home is one of the most important services that we provide here at Allenbrook Fordingbridge. Carers or family members often need a break to recharge their batteries from the demands of providing 24 hour care, and we are happy to take over the care of you or your loved one for any length of time.
All respite care residents are treated as one of our residential residents for the duration of your stay and still receive the same level of person-centred care that we deliver to everyone at the nursing home. Respite visits can vary from just a few hours to a few weeks and repeat visits can be planned ahead of time.
We would always recommend you come in for a short stay first if you are unsure about going into a care home. This way, you can experience firsthand all the benefits, both social and medical, to residing at Allenbrook Care & Nursing Home. This provides future residents with the opportunity to experience the homely environment and quality care services as excellent facilities on offer at our home.
Inevitably, situations at home sometimes change very rapidly; illnesses occur or care packages break down unexpectedly and for these reasons we offer our Crisis Service. This enables individuals who cannot remain at home to move to Allenbrook Fordingbridge rapidly in order to prevent further problems arising and often avoids the need for hospital admission.
Our Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants stay with the patient for longer periods of time - crisis stays can be for as little as two-three nights to get over a temporary problem but can be extended as required. Not every patient will need the crisis service, but knowing it’s available can provide important peace of mind to patients and caregivers.
